QQQ and RHAT

I closed QQQ Jul 36 Puts at 0.65 for a small profit as it gapped down today. The volume was about average. No panic selling. Holding ATM/OTM front-month puts won’t make too much sense when approaching expiration.

I also closed Jul 20 Puts at 0.50 at breakeven point. I still keep Aug 22.5 Puts as RHAT may retest critical support at 20. As it’s in oversold condition, buying interests are plenty as seen when it was bouncing back from the gap down.

Trying latest Mono …

I’m working on installing Mono again. This time, I will install Red Hat 9.0 on a Virtual PC and then install Mono RedHat 9 RPMs directly. My goal is to test ASP.NET on Mono to get a feel for its performance compared to Windows .NET.

On a Virtual PC, you can install any kind of OS on a Windows box. It’s pretty cool to test any new systems before installing them in a production box.

VPC does not support shared folder addition on Linux, so I have to set up Samba file share from the RH9 as file drop folder.

RHAT

RHAT took a big hit of roughly 10% on Friday. Its CFO quiting caused concerns among investors despite it met its earning target. It will likely break 20 support level and move down further. I bought Jul 20 Puts at 1.25. The target is between 18 and 19. The stop will be 21.

MSFT

MSFT closed up at 27.77. The intraday high was 27.92 with more than 100M shares changing hands.

It should attempt 28 pretty quick. The resistence is at 28.7 and support is at 26.8. I would not chase it at this moment. You may be able to wait for a pullback to go long around 27.
